Catch The Dragon is a team-vs-team VR arena game built for Free Roaming venues. Two teams compete to capture the Dragon's power across a single open arena, with movement tracked by warehouse-scale positional systems instead of stationary play spaces.

Designing for physical movement

Free Roaming changes the design problem entirely. Players actually walk, run, and dodge across a real space, so encounter design has to account for physical safety alongside game balance. I designed sightlines, capture zones, and pacing to keep teams spread out enough to avoid collisions while still creating contested moments.

Team identity in 4v4

When players can see each other in physical space, team coordination becomes both easier and louder. I leaned into that by giving each team distinct visual identities and clear, callable objectives, so the social layer of the game amplifies the in-arena tactics.

Free Roaming VR rewards designs that embrace real-world physicality. The fun isn't in pretending you're somewhere else, it's in turning your body's movement into a meaningful part of the play.
